Original titleLas Organizaciones Rurales y los mecanismos de producción y comercialización Asociativa –  Un modelo de Desarrollo Integral para el agro ecuatoriano

The biggest challenges that the small Ecuadorian producers live today are undoubtedly the low production levels and the negative consequences of climate change on production, the lack of confidence and the difficulties in effectively and efficiently associating themselves, the difficulty of accessing new markets to sell their products. CEFA, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, which provides its technicians in the field, and GIZ, which has developed an important expertise on issues related to climate change in Ecuador, will support small producers of coffee, cocoa and quinoa of seven Provinces of the country so that they improve their productive, associative and commercial abilities, so that their family income can grow and they can have access to health and education services.

This project has become a Best Practice worthy of being spread to other areas of the country and for this reason it plans to reach these seven Ecuadorian provinces.

Several actions will be carried out during the project: at the production level, 6000 hectares of coffee, 8000 of cocoa and 1,500 of quinoa will be rehabilitated by adopting good agricultural practices, sustainable and adaptable to climate change and experimenting new plant varieties in the field and new agroecological techniques; at the associative level, work will be done to improve and standardize the internal management systems of the 45 beneficiary associations, also aiming at developing a strategy for territorial promotion and certification of agricultural products and products; on a commercial level, we will work both on the opening of new internal markets, but above all on strengthening the internal market, also thanks to promotional campaigns and organization of events (fairs, exhibitions, tastings, etc.).
