Original title: W4C – WOMEN 4 COMMUNITY. Sostegno alle donne agro-imprenditrici per il benessere di tutta la comunità

The context

In such a vast territory as the Ethiopian, hit in recent years by many droughts and by the lack of widespread private investments and public infrastructures, it is essential to mobilize communities in a process of self-development, allowing rural inhabitants to take care of the wellbeing of their own community.

Our objective

The project aims to improve the domestic economy in the Woreda (district) of Cheha with activities of production and processing of food and social protection focusing on the role of women.

Our intervention

After having trained the staff and other relevant stakeholders, the real needs of 3 female co-operatives will be identified and an individual strengthening plan will be launched. The trainings, together with awareness-raising workshops for the whole community and irrigation interventions, will allow the creation of a positive attitude towards the beneficiaries and ensure the project ownership by local communities and institutions.

On the basis of the individual strengthening plan, each group will receive specific technical training on productive or transformative aspects, on the management of groups and common goods, on the hygiene of agri-food products, on post-harvest treatments and on market access and marketing.

In parallel, we intend to pay attention to the educational aspect and to the awareness of the importance of agricultural work, gender equality, food as a source of health and respect for the environment.

To ensure sustainability once again, the capability of on-site staff and teachers will be strengthened so that they spread through educational activities and events, new awareness.
